RAMBUTAN GREEN TEA COCKTAIL

Rambutan Green Tea Cocktail - The Whiskey Muse

I recently had an opportunity to try Suntory Toki for the first time thanks to my lovely friend Matt aka The Whisky Chef (see our Toki Party here). If you haven’t heard of this whiskey before, it’s probably because it was just released in Canada in July of this year.

Suntory Toki is a young and fresh tasting whiskey is quite herbaceous with aromas of crisp green fruits and citrus. Notes include basil, thyme, peppermint, green apple, green grapes, grapefruit, ginger and vanilla oak. Incorporating these flavour notes into an asian-inspired cocktail that features rambutan (which tastes sort of like lychee), green tea and milk oolong tea, has resulted in a refreshing and revitalizing summer drink which is a perfect alternative to bourbon sweet teas in the summertime.

INGREDIENTS

2.0 oz Suntory Toki
2 Pitted Rambutans
1.0 oz Milky Oolong Simple Syrup
Cold Green Tea (made at home) or purchased pre-brewed from the store
Peeled Rambutan + Lemon Zest for Garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

In a cocktail shaker add rambutans and simple syrup. Muddle until rambutan becomes a pulp. Add ice, bourbon and green tea. Shake and strain over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lemon zest and peeled rambutan.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

**To make the Milky Oolong simple syrup bring 1 cup of berry sugar and 1 cup of water on medium heat to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Use 3-4 tbsp of Milky Oolong Tea. Let steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain out tea and place remaining mix into a sealable container.
