Sure, there are unlimited possibilities when it comes to concocting a cocktail and as a former bartender at one of the top cocktail bars in Canada, I have worked with many different ratio, ingredients, spirits and modifiers.

After making thousands of cocktails, I am pleased to give you the Whiskey Muse quintessential guide to 5 Whisk(e)y Cocktail Formulas that will allow you to make hundreds of unique cocktails.

  1. The Sour Ratio: 2 parts whisk(e)y : 1 part sour : 1 part sweet
  2. Equal Parts Ratio: 1 part whisk(e)y : 1 part modifier* : 1 part modifier : (1 part citrus)
  3. Spirit Forward Ratio: 1 part whisk(e)y : 1 part high ABV modifier** : 0.5 parts sweet : 0.5 parts citrus or smoky
  4. Sparkling Ratio: 4 parts sparkling : 3 parts whisk(e)y : 2 parts sour : 1 part sweet
  5. Classic Cocktail Formula: whisk(e)y + bitter + sweet
