Okay, you may not be surprised Iโm saying this seeing that I featured a number of Canadian whiskies last month, but I just needed to re-iterate this leading up to my featured whisky today:

1๏ธโฃ JP Wisers 22 Yr is aged in new European Oak barrels, seasoned with Ruby Port
2๏ธโฃ Port is a type of fortified wine from Portugal
3๏ธโฃThere are two main categories of Port: Tawny and Ruby. The latter is typically only aged for 2-3 years in barrels resulting in it being fruit-forward. Thus a whisky may inherit notes like blackberries, raspberries, cinnamon + chocolate and a ruby red colour
3๏ธโฃ Further, being made from new European oak (vs American) will lend flavours of vanilla, spice, woody characteristics and some bitterness (which can create harmony with the sweeter fruit-forward notes from the Corn + Ruby Port)
