I Like My Whisky The Way I Like My Men TASTE

Whisky Review: Eau Claire Distillery Rupert’s Whisky

Why am I always in to mysterious men whiskies? 😳😅

Happy Friday my muses! Tonight I am featuring the newly released Rupert’s Whisky from Eau Claire Distillery in Calgary, Alberta. Intrigued by this whisky, I reached out to the team and it seems as though the master distiller, Caitlin Quinn hopes to keep a lot of the details about this whisky close to her chest.

ACTING MYSTERIOUS? WELL NOW YOU HAVE MY ATTENTION ‼️‼️

Funny how that works… or is that just me? 🙃

Despite being shrouded in secrets, this whisky is approachable, cost friendly and worth a try. I’d classify it as All Tea, No Shade.

TL;DR — Rupert’s Whisky reminds me of: Red Berry Fruit Tea 🍒🍓☕️

🍹Cocktail of Choice: I’d try it in a riff on a Clover Club with this whisky instead of Gin.

Some quick notes:

1️⃣ Although Eau Claire won’t disclose the age or average age of the whisky, in Canada the minimum aging requirement for something to be called a whisky is 3 years… so it’s at least 3 years old.

2️⃣ The age of the liquid can matter, however, there are other factors that contribute to how whiskies mature. For example, the climate of the country (state, province, prefecture) that it’s aged in will impact how rapidly the whisky ages, evaporation rates (angel’s share) and wood interaction.

3️⃣ Similarly, within (non-temperature controlled) warehouses, the temperature will be different between the bottom and top of the warehouse (hot air rises right?). So barrels at the top of the warehouse will age more rapidly.

If you haven’t been following along, this is part of the series “I Like My Whisky the Way I Like My Men…” where I ‘swipe right’ on different whiskies and give you an easy-to-understand review of the experience. This month is all about Canadian whiskies.

Have you dated this Canadian Whisky? Would you go on a second date? Going steady? What are your thoughts on Ear Claire Distillery?
