The fifth recipe I’m highlighting is actually the inspiration behind this campaign! This version of a Manhattan is an everyday cocktail in my household.
The first time I tried Lot №40 Dark Oak, I was absolutely enamoured with it. Call it love at first sip.
It’s no surprise though, because Master Distiller Don Livermore is nothing short of an alchemist and has been instrumental in defining a new era of exceptional Canadian Whiskies.
Made from 100% Rye and aged first in new American Oak barrels (№2 char) then in heavily charred oak barrels (№4 char) gives this whisky countless flavour facets.
For me, if I could only choose five, I would say it has herbal, peppery, espresso, dark caramel and baking spice notes. These are complemented by the cocoa, vanilla, clove and dark fruit notes found in Antica Formula.
Full-bodied, rich and dynamic, this Manhattan checks all the boxes for me. I’ve tried it with and without orange oils and without is best.

Ingredients:

60 ml Lot No. 40 Dark Oak
30 ml Antica Formula Vermouth
2-3 dashes Angostura Bitters
Garnish: Amarena Cherries

Method:

In a mixing glass add all ingredients with ice. Stir down for 30-45 seconds until diluted and chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a cherry.
